A place has at last been found!  And we are moved in!

We have signed a lease agreement with St. Mary's Catholic Church to house the collections in one of the classrooms of the former St. Mary's Catholic School. Our volunteers can work on the collection, researchers, students and the public will have access.

The move will take money! Help further our mission!

The Archive Collection has been in storage since January 2007. Our office and the Digital Lab equipment have been in storage since May 2007. They are now moved!!  Help with these expenses and additional shelving!

Preserving Park Forest's Unique History, Diversity and Achievements

The mission of the Park Forest Historical Society:

To preserve, interpret and celebrate the unique history, diversity and achievements of the Village of Park Forest, Illinois through exhibits, publications and special programs;To educate residents, students and visitors in all aspects of village history;To encourage donations and enlist volunteers for the Park Forest Local History Collection and Archive and the 1950s Park Forest House Museum;To honor those who have, over a long period of time, contributed to the Village of Park Forest.

Our Vision

The Society's vision is to share the unique history of Park Forest with our community, region, state, nation, and world. We strive to develop and maintain an exceptional Park Forest History Center which includes the 1950s Park Forest House Museum showing life in American suburbia in 1948-1953, and provide a home for the Park Forest Local History Collection and Archive, in a facility with paid staff and space for exhibits, research, and education. It is our goal to inspire the high level of community involvement which has contributed to the livability of Park Forest, and to help make the village a heritage tourism destination.
